Why Do A Seasonal Cleanse?

The body is really no different from a car. Like any machine, if you want it to last and give you years of trouble-free service for the maximum duration, it requires regular and routine maintenance.

If you want to get the most miles out of your car then you have to follow a routine and preventative maintenance programme, like regular change of oil and oil filter every 5,000 miles, change of air filter every 10,000 miles, a tuning and service every 25,000 miles and so on. Any mechanic will tell you that if you want your car to last for a long time and remain in good condition you must take care of it.

Likewise, it is the law of Nature that if you do not follow a routine maintenance programme using the proper fuels and fluids, if you do not follow a routine preventative maintenance programme … the machine that is your body will break down.

Your body, like your car, uses fuel to run and as it runs it creates waste products, like the exhaust of your car. In order to ensure your body machine runs at its optimum level, it is important to use the best fuels and periodically cleanse the internal parts. This is very important even if you happen to live in the best of environments. Sadly, for the greater part, most of us live far from the best of environments. The problem is, despite the fact that most of us in this day in age live to about 70 to 75 years of age, medical scientists agree that if properly nourished and maintained, the human body should last for about 125 years! They argue that the only reason that it doesn’t is because of our lifestyles. We lose approximately 50 years from our potential lifespan because of the air we breathe, the fluids we drink, the foods that we eat … and the lives that we live. We are killing ourselves 50 years too early! And though we may not be able to change the air we breathe or the lifestyles we live, we can change the way we live, just by changing the way we eat and drink, allowing ourselves the time to give our body machine the maintenance and service it needs … and living healthily to our full potential.

Haemorrhoids

Haemorrhoid

If your anus is
• itching,
• there is a painful swelling that hangs like grapes
• there is blood
• and if its painful when expelling a hard stool
than you may be experiencing haemorrhoids (piles). The most common type develops inside the anus; these can sometimes bleed but not be painful. The external ones are painful. They can sometimes become prolapsed and protrude from the anus – looking like a soft lump.

It is said that long sitting, ageing and pregnancy can all contribute to haemorrhoids. When straining to perform a bowel movement you can make the haemorrhoids worse.

If you are looking for comfort and relief try these top tips:
Add a good handful of Epsom salts into your bath, stir, dissolving the salts well. Immerse the area into the bath – this should help to constrict the haemorrhoid. You may want to try a sitz bath. You can have a sitz bath with any part of the body, i.e. hips, hands, feet. For the purpose of this article we are concentrating on the lower part of the anatomy.
If you have a bidet than use it by placing your bottom in a full bowl of arm water, sit for 10 minutes in the warm water, drain the bidet, refill with cold water and sit for 5 minutes. When you’ve finished alternating between hot and cold (do this for half and hour) than completely dry the area.

What you’re trying to achieve is shrinkage of swollen vessels, providing enormous relief.

Remember
Please dab the area – do not scratch

You can also try sitting on ice. Put some ice in an old pillow case, make sure the ice is first placed in a plastic bag, and then simply sit on it. Ha ha Lovely! Soothing!

A bag of frozen peas can also be used – I would not however suggest serving it to your friend after use. Remember if you go down this route wrap the peas in a cloth.

Soak a piece of natural cotton wool ball in distilled witch hazel. Apply this to the area; it is very rich in tannins, which helps to contract the blood vessels.

In the affected area a generous amount of silver gel can be applied and it is extremely soothing. It will also remove any bacteria & impurities from the haemorrhoid, giving it the best chance to heal.

Vitamin E and wheat germ can also be applied. Comfrey or calendula will soothe and promote healing. Another school of thought is grated potato. (Again don’t make chips with this after use). The potato is very astringent and soothing.

One last tip which I’m sure you’ll enjoy is to put your feet up because by raising the feet it takes blood away from the area and also alleviates pressure. Stretch yourself out and relax!
